Concert - With Heartfelt Joy

Reading Bach Choir joined forces with Concerts in Caversham to present a bold and moving programme featuring Caroline Shaw’s To the Hands, a haunting response to modern-day displacement inspired by Buxtehude’s moving cantata cycle Membra Jesu Nostri, and her evocative string piece Entr’acte. Telemann’s lyrical Viola Concerto brought Baroque elegance and charm, performed by the CinC ensemble with soloist Wenhan Jiang from the RPO, while Bach’s gripping Easter cantata Christ lag in Todes Banden, BWV 4, offered a dramatic and uplifting finale.
