Welcome to Reading Bach Choir's 2009/2010 season of concerts. The first two concerts of the season mark significant anniversaries
in the music world. Firstly in November we celebrate the anniversaries of: Purcell, Haydn and Mendelssohn with a varied
concert of works by these composers. (Handel was performed in our June 2009 concert).
Our concert in March will be JanJoost's last with the choir and to mark this we are performing
one of Monteverdi's most famous choral compositions - his Vespers of 1610. This concert, in the wonderful setting
of Douai Abbey with its fantastic accoustic, will be performed with period instruments.
Our first concert with our new Music Director, Matthew Hamilton, will be performed twice; firstly in St. Nicholas Church, Newbury and then at All Saints Church, Reading. The programme is of music by American composers & composers who have lived in America. |
