Active as organist and choral conductor, Nick conducted Reading Bach Choir during an
interregnum and has been our accompanist for the past two years. Nick was appointed the ninth Organist and Choirmaster to the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in London in 2004, where he maintains the music in the little known, but beautiful chapel of 1623. Previous to this he spent four years as sub-organist and ‘Keeper of the Songes’ to Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal, based predominantly at St James’ Palace. A native of Berkshire, Nicholas has held the organ scholarships at Rochester and Westminster Cathedrals and at Magdalen College, Oxford. After leaving Oxford, he took an MMus in choral direction at the Royal Acadamy of Music. |
His work as an organist includes many television and radio credits
including the ecumenical distinction of having played at the installation services
of both the Archbishop of Westminster and the Archbishop of Canterbury, both broadcast
live on BBC TV. The majority of Nicholas’s time is now spent working with children’s choirs in a secular context. He is the Assistant Musical Director of Cantate Youth Choir (previous winners of the Sainsbury Children’s Choir of the Year title) and also on the staff of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he directs the Junior Chamber Choir. |
